Capernaum was a small fishing village at the time of Jesus. It was located on the northern shore of the Sea of Galilee. Today Capernaum is an archaeological site. Jesus went to Capernaum often in his travels and made it a center for his ministry. He did many miracles there including healing Peters mother-in-law (Mat 8:14-15) and healing the paralytic who had been let down through the roof by his friends (Mark 2:1-12).
