The city of Eilat is at the southern most tip of Israel.  It is a port city on the Gulf of Aqaba which is part of the Red Sea. In the Old Testament this city is known as Elath and is the area that Solomon used as a port when he built ships and traded with Ophir (1 Kings 9:26-28).  Today, because of it’s warm climate and location on the Red Sea it is a popular vacation spot.
