Fortress Antonia

The Fortress Antonia was a military barracks built around 19 BC by Herod the Great in Jerusalem, named after Herod’s patron Mark Antony. The fortress was built on the northeastern side of the city, near the Temple Mount and the Pool of Bethesda. Many people believe that it was a tower like building however others think it was a castle like structure with four turrets.
