Jerusalem, the current capital of Israel, is located in southern half of Israel west of North end of the Dead Sea. Jerusalem has been the center of Israelite religious life since the first temple was built by King Solomon.  It is also an important religious center for Muslims and Christians, as such Jerusalem has been at the center of conflict many times.  In its long history it has been destroyed twice, besieged 23 times, attacked 52 times, and captured 44 times.

Jesus spent a large amount of time in Jerusalem. He went there as a boy, He taught there often, suffered, died, and rose to life there.  This is where our salvation was accomplished.
