The Ramon Crater is Israel’s largest makhtesh, a large valley with high steep walls. It covers an area 53 miles south of Beersheba and is about 25 miles wide. The Ramon Crater is home to many forms of wildlife. It is the largest national preserve in Israel and has many fossils in the rocks.
