The Shrine of the Book
Located in the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, the Shrine of the Book houses the Dead Sea Scrolls. It was built as a white dome and a black basalt wall, symbolizing the battle between light and darkness. The site was constructed in 1965. The scrolls are displayed on a rotating basis for 3-6 months at a time. The museum is also home to other ancient text including the Aleppo Codex.
