How Well Do You Know Your Salvation History?

History is one of those subjects that some people really seem to love and others . . . well, perhaps that don’t hate it, but they don’t find it all that interesting.  No matter which group you find yourself in I think you will enjoy the “history” we will cover this summer.  We will use several Sundays this summer to take a look at some of the events that led up to the coming of our Savior.  I think you will find it interesting, and – even more important – it will strengthen your faith as you see God use world events to prepare people for the coming Messiah.  Here is our schedule for the summer:

  • June 21 – The fall into sin.  (Why was it such a big deal that Adam and Eve ate that fruit?)
  • July 5 – The flood (How did God preserve the world by destroying it?)
  • July 19 – The Tower of Babel
  • July 26 – Samson (True strength comes from the Lord.)
  • Aug 2 – Ruth (God used someone to bring the Savior into the world that you wouldn’t expect.)
  • Aug 9 – David and Bathsheba (Repentance and forgiveness is the reason Jesus came.)
  • Aug 16 – Division of the Kingdom and the 10 “lost” tribes of Israel (Are they really “lost”?)
  • Aug 23 – Jonah (Reaching out to Gentiles was always in the plan)
  • Aug 30 – Exile (In spite of tragedy God says, “I know the plans I have for you.”)
  • Sept 6 – Nehemiah (God remembers his people . . . and His plan for saving sinners.)
