The Daze Before Christmas

What do you think?  Isn’t that a catchy title – “The Daze Before Christmas”?  You know, those days before Christmas can be so busy – so full of gift shopping, decorating, and Christmas gatherings – that they leave you in a daze.  But I must be honest.  The title isn’t my own idea.  The title for this article comes from the video-based Bible study we will use for the Sundays in Advent (November 30th – December 14th ).

In “The Daze Before Christmas” we will look into the lives of a typical Christian family during the busy Christmas season.  (After you see the video we can talk about whether you think they are “typical”.)  Through the experiences of this family we will consider some of the things that fill our lives in the days leading up to Christmas.  Using God’s Word, we will focus on the reason for Christmas – the Christ child.  Please join us for Bible study!

As you study God’s Word this December, ask God to make you “busy” with all of the right things.  We have an excellent example of people who were the right kind of busy right in God’s Word, in Luke chapter 2 – the shepherds of the first Christmas.  They “hurried” to see the Christ child and they were busy “spreading the word”.

I pray that you are not in a “daze” this Christmas, but that you spend your days (as busy as they might be) focused on the Christ child.

“When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, ‘Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.’

So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.” (Luke 2:15-18).
